Hi all, thanks so much for all your comments on my Newlook 6188 jacket. The whole process really got me thinking about my main goal of joining the fearless sewalong, aftersome thought I came into a conclusion, I re-cut the back and front bodice and exercised as much patience as possible to join them perfectly, afterall “what is fearless if I am fearful”. Few hours later I got an excellent matching plaids and am so proud of myself.
I even did a bit of couture sewing (if that’s what’s called) I used tie neck interfacing to gather the armhole for sleeve placement, this method worked perfectly without any puckering. Got a bag full of ties for $2 at the thrift shop which I will also be using to make some bias strip for future use.
I added a real pocket instead of ordinary welt by combining view A welt and view B pocket, I also removed the chest welt because I don’t really like any detail in this area.
So far here are what have got, I am working on the lining, hopefully I will have it done in few days
What do you think fellas?
That plaid matching is quite nice!
Lovely!

You did a great job on the matching! Your jacket is looking lovely.
Much, much better! You did a fantastically fearless job matching the plaid.
Wow you are fierce!!!! I love this jacket and you matched the plaids perfectly!!!! Great job!!! I'm cutting out my pants and working on a jacket muslin. I'm gonna have to move alot faster to catch up with you (wink)! You're doing an EXCELLENT job!!!!
Fabulous looking jacket and really like the pockets and trim along the jacket opening.
It's really cute! Only thing left to do is finish the edges
Squeal! The plaids match and the contrast is so pretty too.
That is beautiful. I love the pink.

That jacket is hot.The pink trim really sets it off. I've seen a few of those jackets but never wanted on till now.
Oh I can just see how pretty that jacket is coming out! I've added you to my reader – can't wait to see how it turns out! Good luck!
Oh wow-the back.. beautiful, just beautiful. Good on you for marching on despite initial hesitations. And the using neckties for bias-genius.
Great job! You definitely show how much patience you have by re-doing this jacket to correct the matching lines! So worth all the effort! A pat on the back is well deserved!
Hi Aminat – The jacket is beautiful inside and out, a real credit to you. Not long to go for Fearless Feb., but I think you are nearly finished. I'm still having problems with my Fearless challenge. I'm going to watch your progess…
Hi Animat, Thanks for popping over to my blog. I noted that you were not sure what to do about buttons – the pattern picture uses darker buttons (which give a lovely central line, very flattering) – the darker pink matches a darker pink in the tweed. You could do something similar, bearing in mind that the tween you have does not have such a contrasting colour. Try something deeper that harmonises and tones and see what happens. Buttons can make or break a garment and you have put so much work into yours, its worth taking trouble over the buttons. Good luck, Sarah Liz
Wow! I think it is nicely done.
This jacket is stunning ! I love it. The trim and fabric are perfect together. You've done a great job.
Your jacket is looking great. You really are a fearless sewer.
