My first ever plaid fabric to celebrate my one year of blogging and three years of sewing…. I was so nervous at first then I thought let me just give it a try and see how it goes…boy it went really well. Thanks Faye for all the information you gave me.
Yes, I actually folded the fabric before cutting because I am not really a patient person….lol. I used the technique I learned from my two great teachers (Ron Collins and Alice Mulrain) to do this. I folded the fabric into two and pinned every about 6″ so that the fabric won’t shift. It was a neck breaking experience but I did it anyway.. So far here is my result, not only did the front and back match, the sleeve and the colar did match as well….. Yeepy, I am so good….lol.
Check my pictures below
My Camera couldn’t do enough justice to these pixs, but I am so proud of the outcome.. I can see more plaid in 2010….lol. I will be posting the final review after I am completely done. I still have to do the lining and all other stuffs. What do you think fellows…..lol
Terrific result. The jacket looks great.
Yeeeeee! You did such a fantastic job – professional! Great glen plaid too.
Well, this was a humongous task for your first plaid – very well done. Now you need to go look at some ready-to-wear – you will be horrified!!!
Good for you ~ the stripes match perfectly :)you did an awesome job!
Claire is right, check out plaids in the stores, so often they really do not match.
Fantastic job!
Looking good! I always cringe when I see RTW on folks and the plaids never match!!! Your suit is beautiful.
Lovely…You really did a great job lining up the plaids!! Impressive. Go, girl!
my goodness! That is perfect!! No one would ever know this was your first attempt with a plaid!!! I fold my fabric and pin it like you did! It just makes sense to me. You can wear that jacket with pride. It looks professionally made.
Good job! Onwards and upwards!
Great job!!!
Nice Job…
Awesome job on the jacket.
I can't believe this is your first attempt at matching plaids you did a great job. I wish I could find one of mind the results were terrible but I wore them anyway lol.
Wow! You did a fabulous job on matching that plaid! I'm still afraid of it after all these years. LOL!
Congratualations on doing such an amazing job with matching the plaid. I've not yet attempted a garment in plaid but I really must do it because I love plaid. Your fabric is beautiful and the jacket is coming along really nicely!
Thank you for following my blog. And by that way pointing me in the direction of yours. I checked all your pictures and I have to say that I really love the style of the things you sew. This jacket is also great!
