Isn’t blogging addictive? Once you start you might find it difficult to stop. Though I have read on different blogs that some days the “Blogging Mojo” will just be totally off…… Hopefully it doesn’t go off so soon for me lol.
Okay, I made this simplicty threads pattern (3628) View C. Honestly I love this pattern, as a beginner, I found it very interesting and easy to make. Here goes the review.
Fabric Used: I used Galazy Twill and Bemberg rayon lining.
Pattern Sizing: I cut out Size 14.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I lengthen the sleeve by 2″ to accomodate for my long arm, I made a back-neck -facing from the back and shoulder pieces for a more professional look using a method I read on thread website. I used rat- tail to make the button hole instead of fabric loop and I used the popular bagging method for lining.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? My finished jacket looks very much like the photo on the envelop.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were very easy to follow. But I used the Ron Collins/ Sandra Betzina method of bagging lining.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like everything about the pattern and I am planning on making View B in a denim fabric.
Conclusion: This pattern tested my skills , I was able to use different skills on this project and I am so happy with the outcome. I recommend this pattern to sewist (beginners and experts).
Hi Aminat! Congratulations on your first pattern review! Thanks for your comment on my post about my last jacket. Your version of 3628 looks great! I was a little scared when I first saw that it had a lining, but you’ve just confirmed that it’s still do-able. I am taking yours and Sherril’s advice and have started cutting out my jacket in an 18 instead of 20. I’ll update my blog once I work on it some more. Thanks again!
Thanks Sewshy for your comment. I am making the same pattern (view B) in a denim, I want to make a little adjustment on the pattern front (FBA), then go from there. Will post my result after.
Take care and thanks for reading my blog.

Yes, blogging is addictive and you’ll meet lots of wonderful crafters. I haven’t been doing it for very long but I love it. I look forward to seeing you online!
Happy Sewing!
Love the jacket, you wouldn’t know you were a beginner. You’re right blogging is addictive I finally have an audience for all my rambling.
This is great! I liked the idea of rat-tail instead of the fabric loops and embroidering your name on the back facing – brilliant! – Rachel S.
Lady, You have been super busy. This jacket is as beautiful as the blue one.

Hi Aminat, your jacket looks fantastic and you have a fine blog :)
At the moment [almost 4 years after you] I´m doing the same jacket for my clothes making course but unfortunately from the 3 instruction sheets that came with the pattern I´ve lost the one that has the instructions for view C so I wanted to ask you if [in case you still have the pattern and you´re willing to do it] it would be possible for you scan or photograph the instructions from step 3 onwards.
Many thanks for your attention
